About Us

The Chester County Skating Club (CCSC) is a private, non-profit organization incorporated in 1964. The club was designed to provide both competitive and non-competitive skating activities for members of all ages in a pleasant, informal environment. Good sportsmanship is emphasized under the guidance of our club staff and volunteer coaches. We operate seasonally from September through the beginning of March providing youth and adult hockey programs, Learn to Skate programs, professional Figure Skating instruction as well as Family Skating and Open Hockey ice time for members. Generations of families have learned to skate and learned to play hockey at this rink, affectionately referring to it as "The Barn", referencing its early beginnings as a simple red structure. Our alumni players and members are strongly connected, with many returning to coach or play in adult league hockey.

CCSC works in cooperation with the Upland Country Day School, which owns the facilities. CCSC is operated and managed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the membership of the Club.

A Letter From Our Founder

The Chester County Skating Club is proud to play at the John M. Cleveland Rink. We pride ourselves on being a club that upholds the values originally put in place by the founder of The Upland Country Day School's Ice Hockey Program, Dr. John M. Cleveland. Dr. Cleveland was the Upland Varsity Ice Hockey coach from 1964-1981, Upland's headmaster from 1964-1985, and the first President of the Chester County Skating Club. Please scroll down to read his typed letter from 1983. Years may have passed since that letter was typed but we have and will continue to do our best to run our club as Dr. Cleveland himself intended.

My husband and I own Ganly Vision Care and we have always tried to be active in the community. It’s a great hometown rink and we have made some of our closest friends there.
