About the Program

  • Our Learn to Play program is designed for children who have been through the Learn to Skate program and are comfortable on skates

  • Our program is for kids with little or no organized ice hockey experience

  • Kids will be taught to develop fundamental skills, good sportsmanship, team play, and about the game while having fun in an informal environment.

New to Hockey

  • Did you hear about the sport from a friend or neighbor and want to learn more? First, you're in the right spot. We offer programs for boys and girls at the youth level and high school-aged players.

  • If you have a child interested in hockey regardless of age, or program, have them check out the USA Hockey website. Can't find what you are looking for? Just email us and we'll be happy to chat with you.

  • Hockey is one of the fastest-growing youth sports in the country right now. Don't worry if your kid has never played, our high-level coaches and practice environment will allow them to learn how to skate and stickhandle in no time. A lot of kids have only picked up a hockey stick in the last year to two, and every year we add more new kids to our program.

Meet Our Learn to Play Coaches

Woman
Mark Sherman
Head Coach
I have been a member of CCSC for the previous five years. During that time I have been a volunteer for the Special Needs Hockey program and last year I was an assistant for the LTP program. I have 3 children who I have coached in many other sports including soccer, softball, baseball, and Special Olympics basketball. My kids have been participants in Special Needs hockey, LTS, and LTP at CCSC.  I look forward to another fun year of hockey.

Kaitlin Knauss
Assistant Coach
I am so excited to be back at CCSC!  I grew up playing at the Barn and am thrilled that my boys will also get to skate here. My dad grew up coaching me and my siblings for many years at CCSC and my mother was a member of the board. Now, my oldest son is in his first year of Mites, and my second son is starting Learn to Play, and our youngest is out at Family Skate!  I love what CCSC instills in children about working hard, working together and having fun. Though we may not have the fanciest rink, I do think we have one of the best reputations for creating a lifelong love of the game. I look forward to helping coach Learn to Play and bringing a love of hockey to our youngest players!
